2017 has shaped up to be a pretty amazing year so far! I just can’t believe how quickly the time has passed. It seems like only yesterday that I was ringing in the New Year. Now, one month has already come and gone. January was a busy month with working overtime for my school’s winter intensive program, celebrating my 25th birthday, and spending last week in Vietnam for Tet.
January was also the month I decided to jump back into my blog after a four month hiatus, so I’ve been busily working on that, as well. In the coming months, I plan on giving the blog a major facelift and introducing a series on life in Shanghai. This will include city guides and reviews of all the city has to offer, such as bars, restaurants, and tourist destinations.
My birthday this year couldn’t have been better. Over the last few months, I’ve made a strong network of friends. I am blessed that they were so eager to help me celebrate in style. We started off with an amazing dinner at Lotus Cuisine, a Chinese restaurant that specializes in Yunan-style food. We then went to an escape room, Mr. X. After that, we wrapped up with a karaoke party at KTV and stayed out ’til 5 in the morning.
Only 3 days after that, I was on a plane to Hanoi for Lunar New Year. I spent a few days exploring the city and trying all the amazing street food and coffee. My friend and I then took a 3 day/ 2 night cruise to Halong Bay. We also spent a day on Cat Ba Island. Shanghai can be chaotic, and incredibly freezing, so it was nice to go down south for awhile.
