Seattle: the birthplace of Nirvana and Pearl Jam has come to be my second home over the last four years. Ultimately, I have come to realize that no matter where I have been or where I will go, I will never love another city quite as much as I love this one. I firmly believe that one will be hard pressed to find another place that is as simultaneously quirky and classy as the Emerald City. From the beautiful view of Mt. Rainier on a sunny day and the Urban Garden at Pike’s Place that overlooks the pier, to the Freemont Troll and the disturbingly un-hygienic gum wall, there is something here for everyone to enjoy. Here is a compilation of my favorite spots in Seattle:
Pikes Place: There is seriously so much to see at Pikes. It is a year-round indoor market that is famous for its fish tossing. So stop by and get a freshly caught fish or bouquet of flowers, unwind at the urban garden, get some ridiculously good homemade Greek yogurt, or walk around the shops!
The Pier: Located in the same area as Pike’s Place, the pier overlooks Puget Sound. There are a ton of great sea food restaurants down there as well as the Seattle Great Wheel where you can get a perfect view of Mt. Rainier on a clear day.
Lake Union: Explore Lake Union by boat or kayak for an adventure filled Day. My favorite place to go is Agua Verde, where you can meet friends for drinks and brunch and then later rent kayaks for a few hours and go out on the lake. Gasworks Park is also near Lake Union and the Freemont Troll is a few streets away.
University District: U-District is a great place for an afternoon of shopping and sightseeing. Feel free to walk around and enjoy the beautiful scenery of University of Washington.
Kerry Park: I recently discovered this gem the other day. It hands down offers the best view of the city. Unfortunately, the day I went the sky was hazy due to the fires currently going on in Washington. However, on a clear day, you can see Mount Rainier perfectly.
